Anyone have a good gunsmith who they can refer to fit a barrel?

Should just be a drop-in affair on a 1911. Part of the spec was interchangeable parts. If yours is a race horse, there may be fitment issues.
I can recommend Larry Pockrus just west of Denton.

It is a semi-race horse. My Caspian Frame and slide will be here next week! Thanks I will give him a call tomorrow.
