Gaido's x2 on the seawall...great view. Clary's once you get off the causeway on the right...need reservations, but FANTASTIC food!
Don't get me wrong, Gaido's has great food, but it has changed up quite a bit in the past 15-20 years. Everything is separate cost (side, potato, salad, etc.) can be pricey, but still good.

Haven't been since I was a kid, but back then it was Gaido's and it sounds like it still is.

Gaido's or Landrys are usually predictable. like other Galveston Restaurants - can be hit or miss.

Shrimp n Stuff, or if you go over to Bolivar on the ferry try this place Steve's Landing. I pride myself on knowledge of great coastal seafood places.

Way over priced and not good. I like the Red Snapper Inn in Freeport. It's about an hour from Galveston but it's worth the drive. Priced right and great food.

We go there every year and I would have to say Shrimp and Stuff on O Ave. is the best it is kind of a hole in the wall place but the food is awesome and so are the prices. Most hotels have a yellow postcard thing/red writing with a coupon attached.

Take the Ferry over to Bolivar. Stingrays has awesome food, oysters are fresh and the shrimp are always good. Reasonable prices and cold beer!

x2 on Bolivar. Steve's Landing and Stingrays are great. Are they still there. Most of Bolivar Peninsula was wiped out in the hurricane?

Also Stingaree's on Bolivar ... great "stingaritas" too, with a great view of East Bay, and a close-up view of tugs and barges traveling the Intracoastal Canal.
