Lots of nice big mule deer. Make sure you have good binoculars or spotting scope. Take your shotgun. There is some fine sharptail grouse and prairie chicken hunting to be had. The Sandhills are wide open. Be prepared to walk a lot. The nights are clear and cold, and you can see every star in the sky. I have hunted chickens at Halsey and have seen a few big mule deer. I met one fella who got lost hunting grouse. There wasn't a tree in sight, and he had no clue how to get back to his car. Only landmark was a windmill. It's a little bit different than Texas.

There is (was?) a golf course in Thedford that was supposed to be a destination course. Out in the middle of nowhere.

Go.
