Wow, I thought this THREAD was dead awhile back!!!! Just goes to show you that good TOPICS never go out of style.
Welcome to the FORUM Hunt n Fish and glad you enjoyed it. Always good to meet a new member !!!
Just to update ya'll on my brother's .308 Win., he got a nice spike last week. He said it was about a 213 yd. shot through the lungs. Without the (new to him) Remington Mod.700 with Nikon scope, he would have probably been holding binoculars instead of squeezing the trigger. It definately widens the shot options compared to his old open-sight Marlin .30-30 !!!!!

My neighbor and hunting partner gets his deer every year with his Remington 308. He won that rifle 30 years ago with a $1.00 raffle ticket, and I've offered to take it off his hands for considerably more than that, but he just grins and shakes his head. Can't beat that proven 308!

Wow, $1.00 rifle !!! That even beats RubenZ's $5.00 rifle !!!! I guess I'm entering the wrong raffles or am not as lucky. I'll just go with "not as lucky", but I am glad someone is!!!
Just going by Deer Slayer's latest THREAD about SOLDIERS OPINIONS OF WEAPONS USED IN IRAQ, it sounds like there's a renewed love of the .308 Win. I don't know about "renewed", but will say a more vocal love of the .308 Win.
I know my brother is really fond of his right now, almost to the point I'm tired of hearing about it. But then I think back to when I first got my .30-06 and there's nothing like getting a gun you really wanted for a long time!!!!!
