$705 civil restitution. $200 fine. could of been $881 civil restitution they let me pay what I did if paid in 30 days. $597 citation. Just got out of court and citation reduced to $200. Thanks to the Game Warrden, he recommended the mnimium of $100 with $100 court fee. Could of been alot worse, I feel very lucky. Civil restitution is based on Boon and Crocket it starts at $881.

$905. I think it was 9 3/4 legal in Callahan. This was the only deer I shot this year and did not get any of the meat.

Did you call the GW when you realized it was under 13" or did the processor call him?

I guess I am going to have to get me a tranquilizer gun and put them to sleep first. Go measure, wait till he wakes up and, if he is legal, then shoot him.
My nephew killed a small 8 pt this year that I would have passed on. When we found it, I told him that I did not think it would make the AR limit. Got back to the ranch house, measured it and it was 14-3/4" outside spread. Then I get home and read the restrictions again and find out it has to be 13" inside spread?????
Went to his house and re-measured. It was 13-1/2" inside. Barely made it. His mom and dad can ill-afford fines like that. That would end his hunting for sure!!

I remember your story. It all got figured out once you went to the processor and the property straddles two counties, one that is AR and the other that isn't. Wrote down the county that is AR and got the ticket at the processor.

Terrible story.

I'm disappointed the judge didn't reduce the fine even further. Your fine is definitely not what the "spirit" of that law intended when written.

Aww c'mon man, you crack me up on the AR threads. I would chime in but you seem to speak my words before I can enter a post.

Process your own deer and things like this won't ever happen!! It's really not that hard and kind of fun. Alot cheaper too!

MMMM that sucks, I think AR's can be a good thing but given the circumstances and who would blatenly bring an illegal deer to the processor I think $900 is WAY steep on the fine.
