If you know where they are coming in at, use some tannerite, when the poacher gets close, shoot the tannerite and not the poacher. Tell the GW he was too close and you didn't see him.

Thats kind of a hairy story man! 20 yards? 75 yards? Dude...I'd be firing warning shots asap. I wouldn't be putting up with anybody stalking me or my land. I agree, sounds like a tall tell. But it made several pages of reading.

Use some game cameras to take pictures of the poachers with a background that will prove they are on your property, take the pictures to the GW or sheriff and be done with it.

I dont know about the camera buisness. They are in there at night and my IR camera will be seen if one is even looking in the general direction of it. Deer, NO. People, yes. Of course I do have a cheapo camera but I think they all have some kind of little red light.

Just let me come hunt your place and I'll take care of the poachers for you. You won't have to know anything other than they will not be poaching on yours or anybody elses property again.

Get some friends involved & spread out on full moon night, use cell phones for communication if they work. The poachers monitor the little cheap hand held radios. Make friends with local SO & DPS guys, offer them some free deer hunting, to help you catch the poachers. May want to consider hiring them to patrol your place on full moon times when you can't be there to. Talk to other land owners in the area & see if they know who these clowns are! Just depends how bad you want to catch em. What county are you in?

We are working with the GW and he does protrol on full moons. We are in Montague County. The land in our family , which includes cousins, aunts, uncles, grandkids ect there is about 3000 acres. Everybody is in the same direction for these guys. But it is hard to catch them. This is not a tall tale but actual fact. And yes I saw that I mispelled POACHERS. We have a bunch of cameras out, but what they do is use a magnet and run beside our cameras and ruin it. We have had to send in 3 cameras, to be fixed, at the same food plot in less than 3 weeks around sept and oct. They could not steal them because we have a product in our company that allows us to lock them down. The only way for them to steal it is to have bolt cutters. But they can damage the cameras. These are 2 of the deer took off in sept. Never got anymore pictures after sept 9, 2009. Last year I was getting pictures of the buck that I hed been hunting for 2 years, he was not wide but I had found his sheds from 2007 and they measured 16 1/4" tall from base to tip of the tallest point. The last picture I got was jan 7 2009 and the season ended jan 5. Never got anymore pics. He was a deer that always came in after dark during the season but after the season he would start coming in right at dark. We will get about 1000 pictures a week during the slow time and up to 2500 has been the most during the peak which is before or after the season. So we manage our deer movement pretty good and know if we have a new buck show up or have not seen one for a while. The deer that I was hunting last year would be gone for about 15 days and he would return to the protein feeder.

I'd quit hunting deer and hunt poachers full time !
Seriously I'd devote all my time, energy and money to catching them! I'd become obsessed with catching them, what could be more of a challenge than hunting a person???
Now once I caught them that would be a whole nother challenge...how to detain them until the LEO's arrived???

Ok you said they are dropped off after dark, and picked up before first light... hunt the fence lines and hunt the roads. station a vehicle near the road at each end of your property. Communicate by cell phone and block the road if suspicious vehicle come through.

if they use calls to communicate learn the language. you said you heard them calling back and forth... 3 is a party... Make sure you know where they are in relation to you and do the same call that you think was thier "get out of dodge call" then quickly fire a shot or two... I bet its harder to run when your pants are full of brown!
or just keep working with the local athorities...
learn something new everyday and you will have never wasted a day.

If u saw them get out of the truck and then enter your land Why did u not confront and detain them were u not armed ? You saw them first so u had the advantage.

If they are hunting at night,I would think they are better equipped than I would be! And knowing they are armed! I belive I would leave it to the law, just my 2 cents.
