Neoprene boot foot is the standard duck hunting wader. I suggest getting a good one with 5 mil neoprene and 1200 gram thinsulate, sometimes you'll be a little warm, but that beats the heck out of always being cold!

Academy has some good ones from $80-$150.

x2 on the boot foot. only way to go. if you can, get a heavy winter pair and a liteweight early season pair of canvas. cabelas over academy is better.

LaCrosse Alpha Swampfox Boot Foot Waders are the best I've ever had. They are breathable so they work great for early teal season. In colder weather, I just wear under armour and fleece layers underneath. The boots are insulated and very warm. The mossy oak duck blind camo looks great! Highly recommended.

breathable and either or on the foot.

Neo's in Sept and oct and early december are a beat down. You can always layer up.

Honestly, I think you need both. With the breathable you go with whatever you can find, Hodgeman has some at Academy for around $80 that you will need to buy a seperate boot for. Or maybe you can find some bootfoot breathables.

If you can find a 600 gram insulated bootfoot breathable with extra room for extra socks, you can hunt on the coldest of days if you wear WOOL socks with a moisture wicking liner between them and your foot, and you will be warm but probably make it through warmer October just fine.

I bought the 5mm neos this year to add to my breathables, because once the water got into the 40's, after about an hour of standing in it my feet would lose all feeling. I have slow circulation and large feet that barely fit into waders, so the water pressure pushing against my flimsy boots over my breathable stockingfeet crushed all the circulation and warmth out of me. For me this year, hunting became miserable as soon as the split ended on Dec 12 until my neos came in.

When I hunted out of the 5mm neos with 1600 grams insulation in the bootfoot (most guys could probably get away with 1000, but I am cold natured), I found that not only were my feet toasty, but the fact that they were warm kept my core warmer since my body wasn't trying to pump more heat to my legs. In other words, I had to take layers off on top because I was so comfortable. I could have hunted all day in miserable weather (and did a couple times) with the warm waders.

depends on your hunting conditions, I often stand in belly deep water so I wear 1600 gram super mags, and still get cold sometimes.

When walking in I and in shallow water I wear a light weight pair.

i got the 4mil ti. waders from cabelas and i love them!!! they are very warm and when you have to walk along way they dont feel like wearing leg irons! as far as early teal season goes i hunt in camo shorts and old nikes that i spray painted. i dont trust the breathable waders they are to thin and im not gonna spend 140$ on waders that i wont wear past the two week break!!!! i went hunting 3 times this season where the morning temp was 8-10degrees and i didnt get cold. go with the neoprene!!!

The 1200ti waders from cabelas are awesome.....not as heavy as 5mm but still plenty warm in 15 degree weather! Also a cheaper pair of waders for warm weather would be a good alternative....I would then turn to academy for the second pair. Maybe spend tops $75 on a warm weather pair, just simple canvas would work.

It's my fancy sauce! For me!
