I am looking to build my own blind for the 2010 season. I am wanting this blind to fit two people. What dimensions would be most comfortable/economical to build?
I was thinking 4' x 6' as most of the one person blinds are 4' x 4'.

I grew up hunting in a 4x8 with my dad and it was nice to have that extra space. If you have a kid its big enough for them to have plenty of room to lay down.

I have 4x6 and it is a good size for the wife and I. Would probably be fine for me and 2 kids also. Mich wider than that, and it will be hard to hunt if you go alone.

I have a 4x6, a 4x5, and a 5x5, like said above to wide is hard to hunt alone, the 4x5 is great for the occasional partner but the 4x6 is better for a full time partner. And the 5x5 is strange unless u have 360degree views

I hunt in 4x6 wood blind with my grandson. Except my 4'x6' turned out to really be 3.5'x6' and it is a bit short on leg room. A true 4'x6' would be fine.
We also hunt from a 60"x60" pop-up. It is a bit tight, we have to sit staggered front to back. I've seen them in 68"x68" which should be fine.
I've hunted from a 4'x8' and it was too big.
Keep the short side to 4' and it will fit between the wheel wells of a pickup for transport.
Good Hunting, Gary

4x6 all the way. We are hunting out of a 4x5 right now, and with two comfy chairs, its a good fit. But I'd like that extra foot

I've been hunting a 4x6 for several years, but am currently building a 4x8 for the upcoming season. I don't think a blind can be too big, but they dang sure can be too small. It doesn't cost much extra to go from 4x6 to 4x8 either. If I owned the property I hunted, I would like something about 10'x 10'!!

My BIL and I both had 4 x 6 blinds on the last lease we were on and the last year on the lease my BIL built a 4 x 8. After the season was over he said that the 4 x 8 was too big. We both feel the a 4 x 6 blind is the right size.

We built 6x6's this last year, and other than that you have to move to take shot, they are great. Will never build one any smaller.
Dozer, mulched, and trackhoe work. Fencelines, senderos, tanks. Let me know if I can help with any dirtwork or construction.

We had a 4x8 and it was ok. New one is 6x10 and its great. It sits on a gas line running through thick woods so we only have 2 views. 2 windows on each 10 ft side so we can look both ways.

I think the 4x6 is perfect also.
My 5yr old and I hunted out of a 4x5 this weekend and it was a little small IMO. I think that 1 extra foot is better. Especially, if you decide to use a heater.
My son and I used a few 4x4's a couple years ago w/ a heater, but he was much smaller then. He also slept on the floor then. There's no way he nor I would be as comfortable now as we were then in a 4x4.

I have several sizes. 5x5 and 4x4 is best for one IMO. 4x8 blinds are the best for my 13yr old daughter and I. Don't forget to cover the windows with camo material.

I built a 5 ft tall 4x8 and love it. Making a 4x6 just means more cutting and scrap and I'm a lousy carpenter. The frame is angle iron, the floor and roof are 3/4 inch marine grade plywood and the sides are 1/2 inch plywood. The top has roofing felt, then rolled roofing and is topped by metal. The floor has roofing felt covered by carpet. It sits on a couple of railroad ties to keep it off the ground. I think I have 5 hooks for hanging junk and a 1x12 shelf at the front window. The door is a simple hinged plywood one. After knocking my head a couple of times, I cut back the top and put on a piece of pool noodle. I'm using lift up(cut out) wood for the shooting window. I wish I had gone with sliding glass. The whole thing is painted with an under coat and then brown exterior paint. However, the outside of the window is painted black. I looked at it with the window up and it looked black so I just painted it black hoping the deer wouldn't know the difference.
I have some black hanging plastic that I got from a golf driving range that I hang from the shooting window. From the outside, I can't be seen.
It's so heavy that I had to use my front end loader to get it up on my 16 ft trailer.
Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.

We hunted two people out of a 4x6 blinds for years, however the last blind we built is a 6x8 and it is really nice to be able to move around, plus have additional space for "stuff".
From now on, as we replace blinds, they will all be 6x8's.

4x8 is good, 6x8 to really stretch your legs.

5x5. If you are half way tall , you will appreciate the extra foot room. 4' is not enough. Im big and I can put two in my 5x5 easy.

I dont know what size you guys are, but my 4x6 is a little tight for 2 grown adults... It works great for my wife and 4 year old, but two guys in there can get a little close for any extended period of time.

All you need is a 4x4. 4x6 or 5x5 would be more comfortable but a 4x4 has more than enough room for 2 people.
The beauty of the Second Ammendment is it won't be needed until they try and take it.
