Had a friend come down to target some species and was able to get everything checked off the list for this adventure. Lesser and Greater scaup, red breasted merganser and ruddy duck. Went out with a local friend to do some sculling for lesser's so I would have it out of the way so I could help the out of state friend target everything. Had another scaup that got shot in the crossfire and was a juvy so left him out of the pic. Took a trip to an unknown location to target cinnamon teal but was shocked when I saw the great numbers of mexican ducks. Stayed out there for a couple of days passing up tons of shots on other species because I was targeting the cinnamons and mexican ducks. Unfortunately now you can only shoot one of those per day so ended up with a nice pure drake and a hybrid drake, along with a juvy cinnamon. Did see a good number of them but most got really really lucky this time. Then went out for a last scull hooray to get a nice red breasted merganser. Looked through so many it got old but finally found a nice one. Collecting is interesting because you pass up limits and limits of ducks to shoot that certain one you've been looking for. Don't mind too much though! Looks like that's it unless I do some goose hunting for conservation season but extremely tired and time to get back to mounting birds. Hope everybody has had a good one. Eric

Beautiful birds, Scaup really do have "bluebills" this time of year. Never shot anything but hooded mergansers either. Nice looking birds and well done

Those look like mottled ducks to me. Do some people call them Mexican ducks?
