And its possible they wont "fill" the slots...
A "Slot" can be up to 4 people.
I asked : if the picked "party" is less than 4, will they pick more applications to fill that slot?
Answer : No.
And only the "means" are exclusive. The very same hunting areas are as always, still open to the public. No new areas are open.
So you can be there in your blind watching your feeder, and someone else can walk up and hunt. But John Q public a bow only, not a smoothbore slug gun. Which besides putting up a feeder and or trap, is the only real "exclusive" difference.

Thats true, I baited a ton last year, my area got torn to pieces with rooting, but I neve saw a hog in the morning or evening. Im pretty sure they are coming out at night. I hope I get drawn.

I was in the office Monday filling out an application, and the line was out the door. Better odds in Megamillions...

Today EDIT: Just got off the phone with the Lavon Corp of Engineers. They had more applications that had been expected (surprise, surprise) so it may be tomorrow before they contact the winners. When they draw the lucky 11 applications, the primary applicant will be called and their names will be posted on the website ( Link).

Good, still got a chance then. Of course, still got a chance to win the lottery, marry a supermodel, and hunt every game animal in the world too, but hey, it could happen I guess. Was kind of excited about this whole thing until I saw it in the DMN. Oh well, maybe they'll get out of it what they're wanting.
Does anyone else see potential problems between the drawn hunters (and their allowed gear) and the everyday bow hunters? Just a thought...hopefully everyone will act like adults (law-abiding adults).

The lady at the front desk said you can still hunt hogs there even if you don't get drawn... you just have to use a bow and can't use a smooth bore shotgun like you could if you were one of the 11 groups drawn. She said they have over 1,000 hogs out there and they are trying to get the deer population back up. Call them for all the details if you are interested.

For what I understand, if you were a winner, you put a lock on your tract of land. I imagine you wouldn't want to be bow hunting while a group is roaming around with shotguns.

I imagine the lock is to help keep out those who would try and steal a feeder. On public lands, I wont go in if a vehicle is already parked there.

For those that haven't been, most "access points" that the bowhunters use are not generally open gates, but just walkthroughs. Guessing gates will be opened to accomodate those drawn. Good idea to find another spot if someone is parked at the entry. Have heard of people hunting only to come back to see their vehicle being messed with...strategically placed trail cams may or may not be pointed at my truck. Just food for thought. I probably just won't bow hunt untill this thing is over, but hopefully everyone behaves and there are no problems! Beware of flying slugs !! good luck to everyone drawn !

yea, having your vehicle messed with is the main thing on my mind, when it comes to public land. A real shame to have to worry about that.
