Every time I fire my bolt action 17HMR the shell sticks in the barrel. I have to pry the shell out every time. I have tried several different boxes of ammo just to make sure the ammo was not the problem. I can't see any marks on the shell after I pry it out other than the ones I made with the tool. Has anyone herd of this problem or know whats wrong. Please help

is it hard to pry out or once you put your tool on it or does it slide out with ease ?

It is hard to pry like the case just expands and sticks

wow, ive heard of that happening a lot with crappy ammo in several different rifles but in your case i dont really know what it could be. There is not a lot of options in ammo for the .17 and i have never heard of this problem with that round. Maybe someone can help.

Have you cleaned the barrel? Had this problem with a .22 once.

Polish the chamber.... Short piece of cleaning rod with a slotted tip or a jag tip. Wrap with patches until tight to chamber.....Coat patches with FLITZ or JB Bore Paste, chuck rod in drill and rotate slow for awhile, moving in and out only in the chamber. Remove, clean very well and try to shoot some then...4 ought steel wool with CLP on it works too, you just get those little metal slivers every where.

Maybe someone on here will know what to do Thats why. Get a good solvent and clean it. Let the solvent clean it, not the brush. Might just be dirty

Your extractor may not be getting enough bite on the rim of the case to extract it! If cleaning the gun dont work you might want to get the extractor looked at by a gun smith!

It has a good hold on the case but the case is really stuck and the extractor just cant pull it out but that is a good point. I thought the same thing on the first case but after 10min of prying something else is wrong. I think after a good cleaning and polishing the chamber it might work

I've used a similar method on everything from 12 ga. shotguns to ARs. Works very well.
