Just looking for ideas on what everyone does for camp showers?
We have power but no water ie we bring it in I was thinking about setting up a plastic drum with a small pump and a point of contact heater. What else has been tried and tested?

The $140 showers that use coleman cans of propane are prety good, and easy to take with you anywhere...

It's nice but the not rugged enough for me. You could probably make on yourself for the same amount of money. We have to truck in our own water as well. We just store it in 55 gallon drums. We also heat up the water on a propane cooker. It gives us 5 gallons of hot water in about 10 minutes.

Yes I do haha We are looking for something simple but a bit more lets say wife friendly

we usually just used a big stock pot and heated some hot water with it, and a bar of soap and some wash rags.

I use a propane turkey fryer to heat the water, then use a cheap 12 volt bilge pump to pump the hot water up to a solar shower bag.

Note: My bag is hung so high that I actually have to use 24 volts on the pump to get water to the bag. I hate crouching under motel shower heads. Two 12v feeder batteries will work, bigger is better.

We use a 4 Gallon Airston Point of Use electric water heater ($200 from home depot), a 400 gallon water storage tank, with a solar pump. It works great.

can you tell me more about the pump that is where i seem to get hung up on this thing.

Sorry, my hubby got the pump, wish I new what brand/make it was, all I know is, it came from TSC and is installed on the galvanized waterline at the water tank, and is wired to a car battery, and the solar panel is connected to the car battery; it's on-demand (the pump only runs when the water faucet is opened). We have a 8x8 storage building with a shower stall, sink and toilet and it's all definitely 'wife friendly'

Those things are worth twice the price. We have a little collapsable enclosure to keep the wind off while you're wet. We use a 15 gallon barrel and it will last 5 of us all week.

I have one at deer camp and one in storage JIC.

I just buy an annual State Park pass and drive 17 mi to the state park every couple of days.

Went over to albany motel in 70s to eat,warm up an shower, Stall had ice coating about 4"thick on all 3 walls@floor in shower, and 5 ft ice cycle to floor,still steaming.

This is so true! One of our places in west texas is 3-5 miles from Copper Breaks State Park.... and it's easier to go there than to mess with it...

We have a small collaspable. In warmer and sunny weather you can fill it, hang it in the sun all day and you will have a reasonable warm shower. Of course you can fill it with water from your camp fire also. I think we got it at Walmart. Just construct an enclosure out of a poncho or tarp, A pallet makes a nice floor.

Now, that brings back memories.

We started out heating water on a coleman stove in a big pot and pouring it in a bucket. Used part of the water to get wet with and the rest of it to rinse with.

From there we went to pouring the warm water in a bucket and using a 12 volt bilge pump with a on/off switch wired up to the end of the hose near the shower head.

And, from there we got a hold of a fully enclosed, pull up shower that had a resevoir in the top to hold the water. You would lower the shower, fill it up with water and then pull it back up. The thing had a plunger that you would push up to allow the water to come out.

How long is ur stay when u go?

I learned an old trick back in school when visitng the coast.
Baby wipes and baby powder (u can get unscented as well for hunting).

Used this method a time or 2 when staying at campsites during fishing tournies.

May not be the best but helps remove the funk (yet does nothing for her hair).

We too have no running water at the family ranch, we carry in 8 (or more) big OZARKA bottles.
