I am not much of a story telling, but here we go. smile

My dad and I went on the Group Hunt back in December at the Glass Ranch north of Paris. The ranch is owned by Bryan Glass with Redleg Outfitters.

This was my dads first duck hunt in 30 years. The day ended up being tough with my dad not shooting anything and me shooting one Greenhead. Since we are in the area all the time, Bryan invited us back out to go on another hunt.

With all the ice in the area we didn't know if we were going to be able to hunt today but Bryan found the ducks on one of his lakes yesterday so the hunt was on.

We got to the lake about 6:20 this morning and parked about 200 yards away from the lake. While we were waiting we heard all kinds of ducks down at the lake. We waited until LST to setup so we could see where the ducks had made a hole in the ice. While walking up the ducks started to fly off. There had to be over 500 birds in two small holes. It was an amazing sight to see them all fly off. We set up in some flooded timber on the upper end of the lake.

While hunting we had almost constant action with birds circling and checking out the spread. We had a hard time getting ducks into the spread but we ended up getting 16 ducks between the 3 of us by 9:30. If it weren't for some poor shooting by my dad and I we would have been done a lot sooner.

We had a great time and I would recommend Redleg Outfitters to anyone looking for a good hunt.

Here are all the ducks. 7 gadwall, 6 Ringers, 2 Mallards, and a GWT.
