I have heard bits and pieces from a variety of sources that an elk was shot last week in the panhandle. Anyone else hear about it?

I know several years ago, there was a big bull killed east of Amarillo by a farmer. There are a few herds that run the Canadian River Valley.

Some could have escaped fences during the wildfires this past year as well.

With mule deer season open there right now and lots more scoped guns in the area, it would not surprise me. There have been a couple of landowners with "pet herds" that have decided the grass (and especially corn fields) was greener on the other side. I had a guy in hunter ed. class a few months ago who said some have migrated on occassion to his family's place between Canadian River and Pampa.
