Well, after spending all but two weekends since bow season started, and 16 of the last 24 days at the ranch, I am coming home empty handed for the first time in 14 years. This has been the wierdest year ever. Deer have yet to hit the feeders consistently except for late night feedings. The rut happened 3 weeks earlier than normal. Bachelor groups started up in early December. Had alot of early season weather patterns that hurt, but even when we started to move in closer to bedding areas, we would see few deer. The only thing I can think of is that we are now having a rather large pig problem, but I dont suspect it to be any worse that elsewhere in Stephens county. Next month we will stop feeding protein/corn except for only those feeders that are hog proof. Terribly frustated as we love our venison and only buy beef when we run out!

I feel for ya Brutha. I just got home yesterday from a week long hunt and saw 0 Deer. Only 1 hog was shot all week and nothing in the traps. I shot a small 8 point opening morning and that is the ONLY deer I saw since bow season. This season has been tough to say the least. But we did have fun. Got to hang out with the folks at camp. And I think I've gained about 15 lbs since the season started. We eat good down there. All in all I think it was worth the price of admission, and we got Turkey season to go which should be good. Seen several during the season.

Well I don't have pigs and it stunk. I think the majority was slow or odd. We can only hope it gets better.

I was within 5 minutes of going home empty handed this year for the first time in 12 years!
It really was a very strange year all the way around!

Seen several during the season. Sounds like we are in the same boat! Actually shot a large sow day after Christmas right before dark, long shot of 250 yards, by the time we tracked her she had already been partially eaten by something - either yotes or cats - both of which had tracks around the pig. Buddy did get a 350# pig - that was fun, had to winch it up with my 4 wheeler out of a draw.

I feel a little better knowing this was not just in Young County. Slow Bow Season (no Deer) I did shoot a buck opening weekend of rifle, but since then only 2 does taken off of our place. Frustrating considering in the past years going to shoot a deer was like going to get a 6 pack of beer, all day long..." Weird all the way around. The Mass on the racks was good this year though. Here's to 2010, time to get ready!

A perfect season for me too, zero hits and zero misses. I can't remember the last season when I failed to take anything home.

I got 2 does, but that's it. Didn't even see a hog, and I hunted North East Texas this year. Still had a great time though!

Yup this season sucked. Not sure why, I only saw a few hogs on my camera. The economy must have affected the deer bad enough they wouldn't even go out to eat!

No deer or hogs for me. I passed on a pretty good 8 point in mid November and I guess that was a mistake, cause after that day I only saw one other buck and he was too busted up to shoot. It has been a Crazy Season.

I'm not going home "empty handed" per se, but I will have only shot 3 does in areas where you could probably kill a doe with a throwing knife as part of population control.
No bucks or even possibilities for a buck this year. Saw a bunch of young ones, but no shooters.

Lease out in Fannin county sucked, only seen maybe 15 deer all season between 2 guys. No does on Doe weekend and the few bucks we seen were too young. Got 2 does on a day hunt out in Breckenridge for the freezer, so I guess it could have been worse.
