 Got two mounters today. First duck of the morning was a big ol sprig, dropped him out of a group of three, but didn't see him go down. Sable did! She took off, headed twards deep water, and 10 minutes later, comes back with my bird. Scratched out a few more grays and a widgeon, then couldn't hit a group of 4 mallards with the broad side of the barn. Waiting on the last bird of the morn, and had a diver buzz me at 40 yards. After he turned, I saw that it was big ol bull Can! Thought I'd lost my chance at the first canvasback I've seen during season, as I watched him fade into the horizon. Then about 10 minutes later, here comes another! Or maybe the same, no way to tell, I suppose. Probably the same bird. Either way, he's at 15 yards this time, and I finish out my limit. What a bird too!

Turned in to an expensive hunt! Congrats on the birds. I'll probably do the sprig myself, but I think I'm gonna have to pay someone for the can, I haven't done a diver before, and I want it to be perfect.

I'm pretty familiar with the birds, but just to double check, that can is a pretty good specimen, right?

Thanks, guys. I can't wait to see them on the wall. Who's the best taxi for canvasbacks? I think that I really want to go high dollar on this one, and get it done right!
