G5 is a company name that makes broadheads. Which one of their models are you talking about? They make both mechanical and fixed blade.
Cabelas sell the G5 Montec for $39. It is the same price for the Rage 3 blade and the 2 blade according to the Cabela's website.
I don't like the G5 Tekan mechanical broadhead. I have seen a few of them that didn't make as good a wound channel as I like to see.
The G5 Montec I like but a lot of people don't know how to sharpen them or don't want to spend a lot of time sharpening them. They can be difficult to get a very sharp edge on. When they first came out they had a bad reputation for not meeting a lot of peoples standards for a sharp broadhead. I have used them for years and have had great success with them.
I have seen a lot of the Rage lately. I would go with the 3 blade broadhead vs the two blade. I like its results a lot better. The wounds on the entry and exit look like you must have used a shotgun. I got a guy coming this weeked that is going to be using the Rage 40KE broadhead on a blackbuck hunt so I will let you know how that goes. Should be a good test for it.

im sold on Montec, after overcoming my disappointment as my new CS rusted I am back on track. I have killed a WT buck (ran 20 yds DRT0 and a coyote (ran bout 40 yds) with CS. Had fantastic blood trails and pass through left arrow 6" in dirt!
I still use stainless montecs all the time. I resharpen them, until I shot my last hog I had shot the same Montec for 3 years (5 kills I believe)
If you take the time to resharpen these and know how to do it, they are worth every penny! Durable and true
I just get angry when i hit a rock or anything hard and blunt the tip beyond repair..DANGIT!

I have tried the G5 Strikers and thought they were not very durable.

Montec is a great head as far as I'm concerned. They, to me, are easy to resharpen....

I've had nothing but EXCELLENT results with the G5 Strykers----almost consistently get complete pass thrus at distances up to 40 yds on every critter, including pigs!
As for durablity, as long as the tips look good, I'll just change out the blades and re-use.
There are lots of quality fixed broadheads out there (I hate mechanicals and don't understand the need for them) and as long as your draw weight is appropriate ( I shoot at 70 lbs) you should get good results with any of them. I stick w/Strykers because they work for me!!
Regards, Scott

ac X2 I am using the Montec CS's and love them. They do rust pretty easy, but cut like butter. G5 make one of the best broadheads out today. You really cant go wrong with any of them. As far as price, you are going to pay 30 to 40 for 3 on almost all brands. Good luck.

I use both montecs and rage 3 blade. The rage will get complete pass trough's (doe at 44 yards) but the montecs will get pass through's and are still haulin a$$ when it comes out. One thing I like about the rage is that it usually leaves a wicked hole...usually close to 3", even though it says 1.5". Rage claims to have superior penetration, but I usually find my arrow laying on the ground within 6' of where the animal was when I shot. When I shoot the montecs the arrow is either sticking in the ground or has kept going and skipped off the ground and has gone a long way. As for resharpening the montecs, I don't really think its that hard. The rage usually do good for more than one animal without replacing the blades, but if you hit that opposite shoulder then they'll get mangled.

A buddy on the least shoots the montec. Great head except the wound channel is small. You have to sacrifice a little size to go with the all steel head. Animals die with them though.

With the carbon steel montecs rub w/ lemon juice or vinigar, they should turn black but won't rust after that. This is what house of blades recommended for a carbon steel knife i bought.
