when I went to the range with all five types of ammo, I took notes on Point of impact as well.

The 150gr Hornady BTSP Interlok ammo is a half inch to an inch higher on point of impact at 100yds than the 110gr Ultramax hollow point. Given that my shots will be from 100yds to 200yds, the difference between the point of impact between the two ammos will be very small.

Oh and the 150gr fmj's were 2" higher at 100yds than the Ultramax. Which should put them within a half inch or so of zero at 200Yds.

Does that sound about right?

Wierd how point of impact amongst different brands of 150GR ammo differs huh?

Just goes to show that charts don't tell the whole story.

The only way to really tell is to shoot it and see what it really does.

Passthru,

I don't think this will ever reach a conclusion. It will be a never ending discussion.

SIG226
200yd POI difference has not been shot yet. The range that I did the 100yd test at only went out to 100yds.

I will be conducting the 200 yd test at a different range after I travel close to where I hunt. I always want to make sure nothing changed on the gun in case it got bumped.

I agree with you on this one. But only because you have asked questions about the feasability of the ammo you have chosen, but when you got a differning opinion, you have repeatedly dismissed them. Like I said before, you get to choose whatever you want to do, as long as it is legal, the go for it. Whether it is ethical or whther there are better options seems to outside of your understanding.

One more thing, your Dad sawed off the stock of a rifle for you to use as a kid, that I understand. Then you put the sawed off piece back on? You lost me there.

There will always be differing opinions as to the best amount of penetration, expansion, fragmentation.

Not just mine and yours.

Please note that not everyone disagrees with me.

As I grew up from being a 5 yr old and got larger I no longer need the stock to be short in order to shoot it,the wood was re-attached to the stock to fit my growing self.

How was it reattached? Glue? Not bashing just asking.

WOw, that was a long time ago and my oldest brother did it. From what I remember he counter sunk two or three holes about 1/4 " diameter through the piece deep enough to reach the main stock with screws. then pre drilled small holes in the main stock so it wouldnt split. Put wood glue between the pieces and the screwed it together, sanded, stained to match and re-attached the butt plate. It turned out to be very functional and never broke but it did have a seam at the juncture where it had been sawn through. That gun got a tremendous amount of use from all of us. It was handed down and I was the youngest so it remained mine to use.

We were poor enough to keep the piece of stock to put back on later and pass the gun down through all the kids but we were from generations of craftsmen.

I don't think that many people these days know what making the best from not a whole dang lot is like..

Wow I sound old saying that. flag

Ya know if I had something else to shoot growing up and could have afforded whatever caliber I wanted we would not be having this conversation. wink
