I got to chat with some of Texas's finest on the side of the road twice this morning on the way to the lake! Once in my parents' neighborhood for going 32 across a 20 mph golf-cart crossing...the officer was friendly and acknowledged that no one was golfing at 06:00, said he wishes he could go hunting with me and sent me on my way.

10 minutes later a state trooper does a u-turn on a country road to talk with me -- also a nice guy, took my license to his car, came back, wished me luck on my hunt and sent me on my way.

So no tickets!

So I was running a bit late and was still getting set up - had a teal buzz me at 10 yds right at first light, later had a few groups fly by, but no shots fired. Alas, no ducks, but NO TICKETS!! Could have been worse.

Merry Christmas
Nate

Yeah, sometimes speeding up to get there actually makes you later.

Maybe those two officers visit with you was God sending you a signal to slow. angel

When I met you, you were being checked by a law enforcement type. Hmmmm

Same thing happened to me last Saturday!

Pulled over twice within about 4 miles... The first one was a trooper who issued me a warning for failure to dim headlights when passing, which is a new one to me! The second was a warning for going 60 in a 50. The second one occured about 300 yds from the boat ramp so my buddies had a front row seat of the whole thing. Both officers were friendly and not interested in giving me a ticket. As far as I'm concerned they were doing their jobs and looking for drunk drivers.. It was about 1:30am!

I've got pulled over a few times while going hunting. I think its a combination of boredom and the assumption that anyone who is out at 3 or 4 am is up to no good. Most of the time when they find out you are going hunting you can see a change. When they realize you aren't hopped up on meth and drunk joy riding in a stolen car at 3 am they send you on your way.

Ha! I'm surprised you remember that, but yes, that was me, my dad, and my friend Jason. The warden was checking us (also a nice guy), and Jason had accidently killed a non-duck (that truly was an accident he said -- I had walked away at the time, and I trust that he wouldn't have done it on purpose).

Funny thing is, I'm all about driving pretty much around the speed limit -- I've only ever gotten two speeding tickets...now that I think about it, both were on my way to hunts...I guess I shouldn't be so anxious.

Had a el campo cop stop me a few weeks ago for a license plate light out. You could tell he was looking for drunks. He saw my dog and camo and stood there talking about hunting with me after he saw I was fine.

I get a ticket at least once a year, hunting or not, if I go one mile an hour over the speed limit they pull me over and whack me, it's the long hair.

Currently on deferred adjudication in Lewisville until 2/15 laugh

LHD...as someone who grew their hair for donation for 18 months people wouldn't think it but there is a persona or assumption to the long hair. I also say...never again I really don't care who dies I am not going through that again, way to big of a sacrifice roflmao

I say that and I know it was a good thing...I might do it again some day but no day soon wink

If he knew anything about you he'd of given you a ticket for your lack of shooting skills.

They are out looking for drunks while we are on the way to hunt because that is right after the bars close.

When I was a bit younger I got pulled over all the time. It was the car. I swear the cops had a BOLO out on me.

Got pulled over first split for a headlight out that i had no idea about. After he saw the dekes in the back of my truck he goes "Well son I know your itching to shoot some ducks so Im not going to hold ya any longer." It was the fastest pull over Ive ever gone through 3 minutes tops haha no ticket which is even better
