My grandma has a chunk of land on the Wichita River and we're talking about leasing it for hunting. I don't know much about how the leasing works - I've always hunted her land and never had to find a place.
I am thinking that we can lease a few spots where a hunter(s) can maintain a food source/blind set up and keeping their hunting restricted to those areas. There would be a separate area for camping amd we're talking about having a cabin built for the hunters to use. Leasing would be February to February.
My grandma's only reservation is about insurance. I know some of you folks lease or manage hunting land and am wondering if you can give me the run down on how the insurance works on a thing like this.
I've asked on TFF and had a great response and learned a lot, still need to learn more. Any information or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks fellers.

IF you are requiring the hunters to have insurance, they can purchase it as a group themselves. They price it according to the acreage and it's really not that expensive in the grand scheme of things. You will also need a Hunting lease permit that can be puchased for very cheap at any TPWD office or place that sells liscenses. It "suppose" to be displayed in the hunting camp. I may be interested in leasing your place. You can PM me with any other questions or info about your place. Hope this helps a little.

You need to specify the rules you want followed. If it is important to you put it in the lease. Way easier to get it clear up front. Specify how many guns and how many deer. You don't want to lease to 3 guns then have 20 kids, 4 brother in laws, 2 uncles, and some guys from work. If you have the wrong people they will shoot the hell out of the place then move on when there are no deer. And get the above mentioned permit. There is a fine for not and it would be on you not the hunters.
