I've only wasted maybe 10 hogs in total. Usually if I don't clean them myself, I'll give them away to someone that does want them.
During the Summer, if I shoot one, I don't immediately clean it as I'll stay in the stand and wait for them to come back out-and they always come back out. It may take 15 minutes or several hours, but they do come back and give you another shot. In those circumstances, if I shoot one at say 5PM, and then don't get another shot until 8:30P, that's over 3.5 hours that first hog just laid there in the summer sun.... Not sanitary. So those, I'll leave for coyote bait.
The place that I hunt just wants them exterminated anyways so they don't care what happens after they die-just that they die. I do my part.
A hog is nothing more than a bullet receptacle.

We hunt the Trinity River bottom so the meat on hogs is horrible, If the pig drops and doesn't run off too far ill take him back to town and give him to Mexicans, they can cook it where it's edible

First I follow the game laws. Second I follow the land owner's rules. If I can give them away I do, but sometimes I'm out so late that folks don't want to mess with them by the time I get in. Every landowner whose land I hunt wants them killed. When entire communities have to hold town meetings to discuss solutions to the economic destruction hogs cause, they don't care if you call it hunting, killing or hog control, they want them gone. If I didn't shoot every hog I could I wouldn't be invited back.

I'm happy to hear this post results. I though I would hear more people say kill'm and leave'm. It bothers me to hear or see people wasting good meat. I know to each his own and I kill things I don't eat! It just reminds me there are some good people out there! I like to here prople say if they don't want them they try to find someone who does. This post made my day!

Usually keep 4 quarters and the straps in the freezer. After that there are plenty of people that will give u gas/beer money for em. Depending on size and smell of course.

We eat a few. Most we leave laying there. A few years ago I hd a split sow on my smoker the same day I had crushed limestone hauled in for my driveway. At the end of gthe day I was paying the driver and asked if him and his wife liked fresh pig. He said sure. I went back and hacked him off a hind quarter, wrapped it in foil, and stuck it in an ice chest for him. He took it home to his wife. The next day he brought my cooler back along with two more free loads of limestone, 'cause his wife was so happy that huge hunk of meat was already cooked!

Honestly we haven't found one that was too bad to eat.
I have taken the smelliest 300+ Boars and made great food from them. I think it has more to do with handling and processing than smell of the animal.
Some of the worst smelling stuff I ever saw/smelt were domestic hogs...and they eat great.
SLow Drifter...if that trucker is ever coming this way let me know...

I have counted up to 65 hogs at one time at our lease. The land owner wants us to kill every single one we can. In the begining of the season once the cooler is filled then I call a few people and take some to the fire station with me to cook for the crew. After that we shoot'em and leave'em unless they are small.

I've eaten all of them so far. Except, the one my 5yr old killed. It had a large wound on its side and back. Possibly from a boar. His shot exited the wound/ scab and it split like dry skin. Not sure if there was an infection in there or not. No need to find out by getting sick. They have to be healthy looking and prefer to kill the smaller ones (under 200lbs).. They fit in the cooler easier.
