Just wondering if any bucks starting to chase does? I hunt 25 miles south of Brownwood, between Brownwood and Brady. I hope they start by next weekend.

I hunt north of Mason and we saw several deer chasing does pretty hard. Many of the bucks were not chasing and many of the does still had there fawns with them so it may just be starting here.

Hunt Mills/Brown County line 12 miles south of Brownwood in Zephyr..Have been seeing lots of deer with little sign of the rut until Sunday morning...I caught a 9 point while he watched a doe at the feeder for about 20 minutes...He sat in the brush making a scrape while she ate...He never gave a shot until the doe left the feeder and they appeared up the hill crossing the road...I still would not categorize it as frantic activity though...We're seeing lots of deer but real sparse rutting behavior...It's probably over...I did have pics on my digital game cam from Oct. 24th where a big old 8 point was chasing a young buck from his feeder...Then on a later pic he was sniffing a doe...Just something to think about...It could all be done with...

I hunt just west of Brady. Opening weekend the rut appeared to be full on. All big bucks seen were with or trailing does. only small bucks and spikes were coming to feeders. Earlier than most years for that area.
We interrupt this marriage for the hunting season.

I have a buddy who in that area who just killed a main frame 12 but ended up 17 point with splits and extra ponts, 4and 6 inches, off the main beam near the bases. HUGE body dressed out and was on the move.
Big ones line-up, little ones bunch-up

Starting to see a little more activity young ones mostly, today near Grosvenor saw a pretty darn good buck bedded down with a doe so thats a good sign. Yeah what this part of the country lacks in quantity it makes up for in quality. You go 15 miles South and you start picking up alot more deer but the body size gets smaller also.

Brother lives between Blanket ant Brownwood. The big boys are on the trail!!!! I rattled in 3 big bucks last weekend. We hunt with recurve bows so they did not get in range. Well we had one look at my brother and shack his head twice at him before he trotted off. Exciting!!! Should be some HOT action this weekend. I'm leaving at 2 a.m. Friday morning and be in the stand with my horns at sun up!! Good luck!!!!! Craig

I just got back from West of Brady Eden/Salt Gap and the bucks were just starting to chase Does. Only about 1 in 10 - 15 Does would attempt to run and just the 2 - 3 yr old bucks would put up a chase.
I'd give another weekend and it will be on big time.

Had two big ones at the feeder ready to go at it but the 12 point stared the 10 down and then the 12 point went to the prosser. It seems the rut has got the big ones moving. I hunt East of Lohn, off of 765.
