was looking at new rifles and thought about picking one up to hunt yotes with. But I was thinking that a 22 mag was enough but that was out of the question what about a 220 swift? My dear rifle is a 7mm mag and hate to shoot Yotes with that. Gets the job done but would rather have a dedicated rifle for this.

the swift is a good one. i debating build that or a 22/6. right now i alternate between my 223s, 204, and my robrts. if you dont reload i would stay w/ the 223 or the 22-250.

I shoot a Remington 700 Varmint in 220 Swift. It's has a Simmons 6.5-20x44mm target scope and a Harris bipod. Follow the link below and you can see it.

Nice Gun Wiley Hey west tex would the 22-250 give me more range than the 220 I was also looking at some .223 and was at Cabelas today for over two hours just looking at my options. I was looking at the Rugar MK II in either a .223 or a 220 swift Just can not seem to make up my mind.

From what I've read, the 220 Swift is about the straightest shooting round on the market, don't really remember much about the distance though.

the 22-250 is only slightly slower than the .220, but is reportedly easier to reload than the Swift. I've never loaded either, but I understand the shoulder on the Swift and brass thickness become a challenge. if you use storebought ammo, pick your poison. Just food for thought.
And I use a Savage 112BVSS in 25-06 if I dont have to travel much (real blasted heavy). If it involves much walking, then my Savage 14 in 7mm-08 (a little much projectile for yotes, but provides good practice since its also my deer rifle). In fact, the practice component of that really makes the best arguement for the .243, if you want a multipurpose rifle. The 243 does everything you could want in TX, with minimal recoil, report, etc... and ammo can be found anywhere.

I like the 22-250 myself, but if you want an all round gun, I agree with jswbga, the .243 is the way to go!

Mines loaded with 70 grain Noslers for all around use. If it was just Varmints, you can use the 58 grainers, or the 55's. they can be pushed to 4000fps.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

Haven't hunted predators this year but when I did/when I do, I use a 223 WSSM.

I use a .25-06 for predators as well as deer and hogs. I know it's a little more that some people like to use for predators, but I've found it to be very reliable, managable recoil for repeditive shooting and semi-inexpensive.

the swift must not be to good there are not that many fac. loads for it, 22.250 will do every thing the swift can do,if the right man is behind the trigger.....plus not many comp.chamber for it any more....
