I will be hunting my buddy's ranch in west Texas (Presidio County), south of IH-10 and Van Horn from December 5th, through the end of the season.

Has anyone been hunting this area so far this year? Are the bucks on does yet? We usually do well on the last half of the season, hitting the rut. Just wondering if anyone has hunted this area so far this year, and curious what the bucks are doing.

Thanks,
Brian

Talked to the ranch owner where I hunt in Sierra Blanca (Hudspeth County)this morning. He advised bucks were just now kinda getting interested. Lot of them starting to move down into the flats. Not acting stupid just yet, but well on their way. I will be going the last half like you.

Thanks for the info.. That's good news. I've always done better the second half.

Not really anything inexpensive with mule deer, unless you are lucky enough to know somebody who owns some good mule deer country.
