My son and I hunted public water this morning. Up at 3:15 and on the road before 4:00. It was pretty windy and the waves were pretty high for my boat. Deeks and blinds were in place with 15 minutes to spare before LST. We had several small groups of 2-5 birds eyeing our spread and managed to take six birds. Too many were hens! The sunrise was right in our face and the wind was at our backs. We found it tough to make a good ID. All I could see were cupped wings and a rapid descent into the decoys! Ended up with one spoonie, two GWT, one gadwall, one mallard hen and one mallard drake.
