well, first of all, I got skunked today, so there are no pics or duck killin stories, if that is what you are looking for, you are excused.

I got a text from cboone at 4 am, I was 5 mins from the parking lot. text reads: "there are 10 trucks here, pouring in like flys on poop"

Great, definatly not gonna get the spot I wanted. Show up at the parking lot, 2 trucks there. Boone, and my buddy matt. Liar!

Anyway, me, matt, and spoonies girl go one way, boone and his girl go another.

legal shoot time comes and its foggier than all get out. Then to make things worse, the wind shifts and my spread os completely bass ackwards. A pair of greenwings come in, circle 3 times, decide not to land. probably because my landing zone was completly closed up. fixed decoys, never see another bird.

Matt leaves for class at 8, leaving me and penny (spoonies girl) sitting on a brush pile in the middle of the pond. She looks down and says "is that a black widow in the water?" sure is. must have gotten knocked in with all our moving around. So after playing with it for a while (takeing a stick and pushing it into a floating fire ant ball) I look around our immediate area and we find its nest. I kick over a stick its nest is attached to and there is another one in there. WE MOVE.

5 mins later, we are sitting on a log, I look the other way and she says "OMG DONT MOVE!" instead of doing what i usually would do, i dont move. then i feel her push her hand with quite a bit of pressure on my neck. There was a black widow in side the hood of my jacket, and she squashed it for me.

Thanks for saving my life babe. I owe ya.

I especially like this part...I wish we could trade insects for ducks!

What a cool girl. My wife wouldn't squash a little spider on my arm the other day while I was doing 70 on 75.

Dude..there were like 5 huge arse snakes in that brush pile when I scouted before the opener..and I'm not even lying.

I can deal with snakes... but spiders? That just gave me the heebee geebees!

you tell him this and yet he still takes us to that spot, knowing i hate spiders!!! it was my one moment of victory- i assure you i will never be that close to another spider!!! All day i felt like spiders were crawling on me because of that!!! YOU SOOOO OWE ME. i saved your life!....

Anyone know what to do if one bites you. I hear they're deadly but what are your chances if bit. Just curious.

chances are pretty good once you get to the hospital... i got bit by a spider in my waders opening day of big duck this year. couldn't scratch it the whole hunt it sucked... a couple years ago a group killed over 60 snakes in our teal spot in one weekend. that's one orgy i'd be happy to break up. i'm all for rat snakes keeping control of the population but when it comes to me and my dog fumbling around in the darkness- it slithers it dies

You'll be alright once you make it to the hospital. There is an anti-venom for it. The problem is, you can only get the anti-venom one time in your life. So, hopefully you will not need it. If symptoms are bad enough that they give it to you, you can never get it again.

Last Summer I found a adult in a web on our patio. When I went to push her out to step on her and a couple thousand babies were in the web. I got the bug spray after that.

Thats creepy...we squashed a spider by my dresser one day and thousands of babies totally started coming out..... didnt have bug spray...:(
