I'm new to hunting but have really enjoyed it! I am thinking about building my own blind for next year. What are the pros and cons as far as going all wood or using square tubing as a shell. Would it be to heavy to put in the air with a metal frame? Just curious and looking for advice. Thanks in advance.

The only wood I put in my stand is the floor. Everything else is metal. It does get a little bit heavy, but it will last you a lifetime it you build it right the first time.

Metal by all means or do you enjoy painting in addition to what cody told you. I use 3/4" plywood floor 2X2" (Ripped) Frame And fully insolated 1 1/4" Then carpeted inside. It takes time and yes cost a little more but you will never regret it. Oh yeah 5 X 5 Minimum. Let you imagination go crazy, I did.

Yes I do. I also insulate them with 1.25" of foam insulation and then carpet the inside. This helpswith both heat and cold and make for excellent noise dampening. it may cost a little more to build but in the long run it is well worth it. Put you a 5.0" shelf at or slightly below the window for your stuff and it makes a good rest. One more thing don't think of it as just a deer blind, wire for 12 volt power if you like. have fun.
Good Luck and hunting
