Stumbled upon this fine website/forum last year when I was looking to start hunting here in Texas. Since then I frequent the forum when I'm bored, need a good laugh, or if I'm looking for some good advice from some knowledgeable hunters (old wise guys). I will say that I have learned a lot about hunting, hunters, laws, and common sense just from reading through the posts on here, so thank you for posting on here, and helping out a young whipper-snapper.

However, I now have a question that I have had a hard time finding a solid absolute answer to. Can I take my handgun with me into the field while hunting at Caddo National Grasslands WMA?? I plan on hunting with ol' betsy (700 adl .270) but wouldn't mind carrying along the sidekick in the event of hogs, or a close shot. Searched here on the forum but couldn't turn anything up, thanks in advance fellers.

Weather Forecast for this weekend looks absolutely superb, have a good time out there, be safe, and enjoy creation.

Handguns, at least for the last few years, have been OK there. (I've not checked regs this year.) In fact, buddy and I got in habit of hog hunting there with handguns only. Much handier in heavy cover.
