I always carried a 38 or 357 with some snake shot. I now have the judge, and carry that.

This year I'm carrying a Encore pistol in 308 that I plan to shoot a deer with.

Sometimes I carry a 9mm just because I own one...

We always take a few to Sanderson when we go for stuff like that.

I wanted to see if someone was going to say for protection or that they are scared of hogs in the dark or something.

I carry my .38 Airweight in my pocket loaded with CCI shot shells in case I come across a snake. Sometimes carry the .45LC Blackhawk in a shoulder holster. Not for protection, just a convenient way to carry it. One of these days something I want to shoot will be close enough to shoot with it.

I haven't to this point, but the rattler that hissed (tracking pigs) at me on sunday changed my mind. He was so close, I had a hard time finding him in my scope. So i just pointed and adjusted based on where I saw the bullets hitting till i got him. Would have been a lot easier with a pistol

I carry one in my backpack full of all my other hunting stuff. When i get into parts of my place that i know rattlesnakes are very common I'll holster it up and as well if I am hog hunting. Buddy of mine shot a pig and soon as we got to it it jumped up and was bout to charge us when he unholstered his Sig and put one between that things eyes. Great example as to why to carry one.

The beauty of the Second Ammendment is it won't be needed until they try and take it.

I carry my 1911 for snakes, hogs ($40 a box for .270 shells, not using them for hogs) and whatever else I dont want to shoot with my bow or rifle.

I sometimes carry a .380 or .40 caliber when hunting public land. I also have my CHL. I started doing it when the USFS began finding dope growing in areas of the National Forest.

Rarely for hunting, but when I track hogs (tracking dog) for people I carry a .40 with me. It wouldn't be my first choice, but it's what I got and it has worked on two hogs for me so far. Neither was a threatening situation, and both were real close.

Well I was going to say that I carry my .38 with rat shot for snakes, but I think this is the real reason ^^^.
