sure..just gotta be still and quiet..a deer moving in high winds is silent and VERY cautious. Shot a buck this year with about a 18 mph N wind

Well guys I blew it! I was impaitent and getting out of my stand five minutes early! I never do this but had to put more corn out. While climbing out of my tree seen a buck and doe running accross a clearing directly for me! I got my bow up and knocked an arrow as fast as I could but found myself kneeling on my tree stand platform when they got directly under me! I was facing toward the tree and couldn't move. He ate for a few minutes seemed like an hour then got nervous and trotted off! Guys this was the biggest buck I ever had a chance at bow or gun. 3 yrds broadside 150 class 10pt. Learn from my mistake! I am feeling low as I can!

I had 6 does, a 6pt and a nice 8pt this evening. I'm hunting down a gas line and the wind wasn't as bad as it was in the open.
Yesterday was kinda odd. After that little rain and the cool started moving in. I had not a single doe and 8 bucks all at the same time feeding.

I am feeling low as I can! youre not the only one, I got tired of the windy cold carnival ride that is sitting in a climber stapped to a tree in 20mph winds so I climbed down about 20mins earlier than I would have and jumpped up a few that we heading right towards my climber. What is sad is that I preach to my hunting buddies to never leave there stands until they can't see to shoot. broke my own rule & learned from it.

I have had good luck in high winds, it sucks but the deer on my place seem LESS nerveous than when things are very still. Now that is only if it is a strong North wind. I shot a buck this evening and also shot a doe 3 weeks ago in simular wind conditions.

The winds never stops blowing at our place and it has little to no effect on the deer at all.
If some animals are good at hunting and others are suitable for hunting, then the Gods must clearly smile on hunting.
