Hunted this past weekend, the deer were moving, I think due to the new moon, even though it got up to 80 degrees. Saw plenty of deer but didn't see any shooters. The Bucks have zero interest in does, only chasing I saw was when a doe got too close to the feeder. Saw some bucks sparring and saw some fresh rubs and scrapes, but rut seems to be at least another 2 weeks away. Anyone else hunt these counties?

I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day.

As of yesterday evening, the sparring matches are over where I hunt (Val Verde). I watch four 8 pointers get in a fistfight with each other, and they weren't playing around. Front got their dander up I think. Not even interested in chasing yet, but I watched two incredible fights at 10 yards yesterday evening. Very , very serious fights. Hocks are all dark now too, with rubs everywhere. Is close, but not quite right just yet rut wise.
After they left, I pulled the biggest one back in with a little sparring/rattle session, maybe 5 seconds worth. Was still looking for a fight. No shooters, best was maybe 110 basket rack.
