Thinking about a drag rag for my walk in and then hang one up on a wick on a serious traffic spot that I have...

I alway use smething on a drag rag like 69 or doe estres. It helps on scent control. Then when I get to the stand, I hang it in the tree next to me. Seen many a deer spend a lot of time trying to figure out where the scent is coming from.

Great question, my guess is that it will be 50/50 responces.
This happened to me this weekend. I got a bottle of Code Blue, Doe Urine(not estrus urine). I have seen deer every time on two stands that we hunt. Saturday I put out wicks dipped in the code blue. That night we had a doe come in just before dark. As she approched the feeder she winded the wick and instantly became very uneasy. She turned and left the area. Never has a deer do this at this stand. The second stand we used this on had no activity at all. The game cam that I have on this stand averages 500 pictures a week( no joke) of deer and hogs. I had zero pics 24 hours after using the Code Blue.
I have removed all wicks and will not use this ever again.
I am sure guys will dog pile me and tell you how great these product are. I am just not a fan.

I haven't had any good or bad responsed to Tinks 69. I have had the biggest buck I have ever seen at the lease get spooked by a couple of sprays of Code Blue. That was the worst $11 I ever spent.

I've never really had any luck with any of it. I had 69 out this weekend, the only buck I did see (3 pt) walked within 10yds of the tink's 69 and never payed any attention to it.
On a different note that deer was at he feeder, after about 15 min of watching him I blew a grunt call to see how he reacted, out of 4 grunts he only looked up twice. So I tried one of those doe bleat cans he heard it both times and on the second time he headed straight to me and walked past at about 30 yds looking for the source the whole way. This is the first time I've seen bleat can work.

I think the dipped wicks might have been a little too much. Using doe urine lightly as a cover scent I think might work better. I've always been skeptical of all these commercial buck lures (gels, liquid sprays, scrape drips, etc)... I mean we aren't chumming for catfish...

I have used tinks in the past with no luck. I bought a new product this year that is more expensive but it seems to work. Made by Border Crossing and i got the VS1.

I have not reproduced these results.......... The biggest buck I ever killed came into Tinks 69. I had never seen the buck before that afternoon (on camera or personally) he was came in an hour after I put it out, he was heading straight to it not to the feeder which was about 25 degrees the other way. He never made it, as soon as I had a clear shot I dropped him at about 10 yards in front of the Tinks.
Like I said one time and never since....... for what it's worth

Worked once for me and has not since.
I was in Missouri last week and the outfitter we hunted with was using James Valley Scents. I saw his cam photos where he was making a mock scrape and then within a few hours there were deer at it. It was neat. I guess I will buy a bottle of that James Valley stuff and see if it works here on these Texas deer
I avoid Dick's and hope they fold.

69, I used it, and maybe a little too much, but nothing came to that location the rest of the weekend. I know that location is always good for few glances each day. Still not sure..

Biggest deer I killed came hauling azz straight for me 5 min after spraying estrous out the window of a box blind.
Since then, every time I've used it I've spooked doe. Only time I had it semi-work was two weekends ago a spike cam into it. This past weekend it spooked the doe at a stand I ALWAYS see deer..
I'm done wasting money on it.

I have had bucks that I have shot stick their nose right up to it and actually rub their forehead on the stump if I poured some there. My best 8 point stuck his nose in a film canister with the stuff. I'm a believer, but only during the rut.

I always carry it with me in the first couple of weeks while the rut is still going. I have had deer trail it after I used a drag rag. I will usually spray it around me as a cover scent as well.

I've had mixed results, but after watching a buck lick it up, I know it can work. I used tinks the last three days and had bucks ignore it although there were does already in the area (yes I hunted this week, during the week, and am living the dream) and have the other brand walmart sells, forgot the name, to try this weekend. I don't use it every year, but have seen it work. It's fun.

I have seen tinks work but have switchged Special golden estrus or VS1 now. Killed a 12 point a few years ago that had his nose to the gound following a drag rag with special golden estrus that had been drug through there 4 hours earlier. I have seen does ocassionally spook fron estrus sents but if I am putting that out I am not looking for the does. Of course during the rut if you have enough does around you will have bucks
