Anyone had problems with their Moultrie GS 100 camera batteries going dead before they should? A friend of mine has had problems with his, and mine drained the battery down in only 2 days...

My Moultrie drained overnight and got returned to Cabelas. Battery usage is one of the big knocks on Moultrie. It did take good pics and I called Moultrie for initial help in setting it. I bought a different but much more expensive brand.

Ahhhhhh, that sucks. It does take good pictures. I had a Wildview before this one. It took OK pics, but did not have the date/ time stamp on it. I'm too tight on my $$$ to drop it on an expensive game cam...

I had the same problem. it is a software problem in the camera. I sent it back once and they reprogramed it. Still drained after two days. Called back, they finally sent a new one to me and it seems to be working now. It took about 2 months total of sending it back and finally getting the new one.

Are you using a solar panel and a lead acid rechargable battery?
If not then that's your problem. My Moultree will run a battery down in a day or two with the cheap batteries.
I'm using a 6 volt solar panel and a lead acid 7amp/hr battery now and it has been running since late August without doing anything to it but changing out the SD card every two or three weeks. It averages about 200 pictures a week and the battery is still at 99%.

Nice Rack, please keep us informed. I have 2 batteries and 2 solar panels hooked up to mine and still only last 1 week. I am going to get a better camera but I would like to get this one fixed after hunting season and keep it for a 2nd camera.

I second that motion.

Just got a reply from Ken Bearden [kbearden@moultriefeeders.com] "Your camera will need to be reprogrammed. Send it back to us at the address inside the unit. Include your name, address and phone number and a brief message detailing your problem." I replied on turn around time....again will keep forum posted....

I'm having the same problems. I have rechargable batteries with a solar panel. A week after putting the camera out I can go check the camera, and it will say 99%, but as soon as you get the memory card out and set it up again it will say 86%. And then you come back the next week to check the pictures, and low and behold your camera is dead. You find out that the camera only took one picture on the day you set it up and then it was completely dead. It makes me so mad that I want to break the dang thing, but it does take good pictures, and I just make it a habit to change the batteries every week. And if it is cold outside it is even worse of the batteries.

I have two of the Moultrie cameras and a Bushnell. The Moultries run about 60 days on a battery, taking around 500 pix a week (day and night). The Bushnell somewhat less but I use it only for videos.

My moultrie game cam rechargeable battery keeps running down. I thought it was the cooler weather or the solar panel. when I was testing the SP I noticed the gator clips had a little rust on the teeth. I knew it was only going to get worse so I cut them off and wired the SP to the back of the charge posts inside of the game cam case. so far so good. Ill probably have to swap out batterys when it gets really cold out side, but Im not sure. this is my first year with a game camera

When you accidentally over charge the 6 volt batteries, does it ruin the batteries? Maybe that could be some of my problems, cause sometimes I let them charge over night (when I forget about them)

Field test results....after 1 week battery life was at 16% (started at 99%) and the pics were not better....I had more white washed photos....I guess you get what you pay for...next I'll try a re-chargeable with solar panel...

I've had similar problems. Seems like no matter what I've tried, I've only gotten a couple days out of the battery. I've used regular lantern battery, rechargeable battery (several of them), and rechargable with solar panel. When I first wired up the solar panel, I just hardwired it straight to the battery terminals, and didnt use those crummy posts mounted exterior to the unit. My most recent attempt at a solution, was to move the wires back out to the post, JUST in case there was some diode in the internal wiring, that might keep the solar panel from draining the battery when its dark (which I doubt, but like everyone else here, I'm trying to make this POS work).

What I have come to suspect over the years, after purchasing much of their product, is that Moultrie may well be a swahili translation of the word "turd".

As my uncle says, "made to sell, not to use".

"First teach a child to love God,
teach them second to love their family
and third, teach them to hunt and fish,
and by the time they reach their teens, no dope peddler under the sun will ever have a chance to teach them anything".

I talked to a guy last weekend who has 2 Moultrie 100's. He said that one gets 700 pics on a battery and the other seldom gets 10. I recommended that he send it back.

I think I am going to get one and keep sending it back until they either get it right or get tired of hearing from me.

I just sent my camera in as Brock told me to (prepayed by Moultrie) hope to get it in the field this winter so I might have something for next year. Has any body had one that was reprogramed work right? Will post again after field test, when I get it back. The rancher works with me on getting it put out and picked up.
