Ive had trouble lately with the smaller spreads , so Im thinking about trying a bigger one tomorrow. 24 mallards, 12 gwt, 6 gadwall,6bwt. Ive seen all those species lately, too bad I just don't have more gadwalls because they seem to be thick lately. I hope the bigger spread works well, were gonna be on a larger water body than what we have been hunting also, so maybe more will be better. This past week and a half how many decoys have yall been using and hows your success been?

I've been using different numbers for the past couple weeks. Started with around 30, then to about 18. Birds are acting like they want to commit, but don't. So I'm going for around a dozen in the next day or so

Been using around 3 doz. birds haven't been decoying for crap. I was thinking about going smaller. LOL.

been using about 3 dozen w/ a jerk string and a mojo. Been workin well on the few birds I have seen. Mainly suicidal gadwalls, but the mallards ate it up this morning. Havn't seen many birds but my spread has gotten the few I have seen to lite in my face. I was using this spread on pretty open water though so I think you need the numbers in ur spread for that situation.

think we need to go big tomorrow morning. Just a long as your carrying them.

I've been using about 3.5-4 dz with 1 or 2 mojos. I haven't been out since last friday though. Next time I go I might go down to about 2 dz dekes.

3 dozen, but it depends on where you are hunting.

I hunt smaller private ponds. I am only putting out around a dozen.

Oct 31: 17 decoys and a mojo dove
Results: 4 ducks for me, 2 ducks for gf

Nov 01: 11 decoys, no motion decoys
Results: 1 duck and a snipe for me, 1 snipe for gf

Nov 04: 9 decoys with a wiggle butt
Results: 6 ducks for me

Nov 07: 9 decoys with a wiggle butt and a mojo dove
Results: 4 ducks for me, 4 ducks for gf

Nov 08: 11 decoys with a wiggle butt
Results: 6 ducks for me, 4 ducks for gf

I was thinking about putting out a big spread and see how it goes here soon as a loafer pond near was covered up as we left on Sunday.

I am thinking about none. My area will be the only one without dekes. They will land there, after being shot at every few hundred yards.

been running about 4 dz with a wiggly butt, mojo and jerk string. The few ducks that we have seen have all cupped and dropped right in

I've been running 18. Been hunting smaller water though. Going up to the metro-mess this weekend, depending on water levels and access, unless someone needs a clean-up shooter..hint hint, i'll be packing in as many as I can carry.

I have had trouble with larger spreads so far this year 3 doz mallads and 1 doz teal. Only had 1 pair out of 2 hunts to cup and my best friend screwed that up. had to take all on passing shots. Today we had about 2 1/2 doz. with a bigger mix and it worked much better as far as cupping to land. I got 5 and the other guy got 2 all but 1 commited. I noticed they were more willing to decoy after 9:00.

You know you wanna! With how much you like widgeon I'm shocked you don't have some already. They can't get close enough to them.

Bigger spread didn't work too good.

I was thinking of going big on Saturday, but I've decided to skip out on class on Friday and head to the metro-mess tomorrow after a test. Going go small Friday AM and see how that works out, if it's so-so I'll switch it up a bit and post some results.

I'm going to try less than a dozen and include more motion.

That's what I was thinking, about 10, 4 mallards, 2 gadwall, 4 teal, about 4 quiver magnets thrown into those groups, and a baby mojo hen early set as low as I can get it.

Dozen mallets, 6 grey, 6 gwt in groups.

First weekend went big with 5 dozen including mallard, pintail, grey, and gwt, and they didn't like it too much.
