I tried hunting an oats patch this weekend, but I got shut out. Do you think the acorns are keeping the deer out of the field? The field is surrounded with ranch land so I thought it would be promising.

Acorns and other green stuff is everywhere. Once the acorns rot and the colder wetaher hits they should move into the plots, at least thats my theory. They haven't spent much time in my plot yet. It's got oats, rye, crimson clover, and a heavy seeding of Austrian winter peas.

These bright, moonlit nights aren't helping either.

we've got oat fields on both of my hunting locations. 3 deer were spotted on the oats in Mills County and 2 deer on oats in Hamilton County. Typical numbers are atleast 10-15. Everything is still green, even bermuda grass. Acorns are plentiful. near full moon. warm weather. lots of things to blame it on.

Just wait....nearer the end of the season you'll be covered up in deer.
