So. Who use's lights under a feeder that goes off at night to shoot hogs at a distance? I got a couple BIG 12 volt DEEP cell batteries I am thinking about getting some LED lights for and putting a 12 hour timer on it. $180+ seems like a LOT of money for one of the premade ones.
Anyway, if anyone has any thoughts on this I would love to hear..
And yes, we are running some traps as well, but I have others on my lease that do silly things so I am thinking about trying a differnt approach.
What about the gun mounted lights? Or perhaps just a little laser site and flashlight on a AK?

Have you checked out the "Hawg Lite"? It mounts under your barrel and seems like it should be OK. They go for about $50 at Cabelas. I looked at their web site and couldn't tell much.
You might check out the solar lights at the RV dealers. They stick in the ground and are used for lighting walk ways, etc. I doubt if they throw much light but it doesn't take a lot of light with a scope. I was passing through the den and saw them being advertised on TV. Don't know about price.
Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.
Boy, if I say "sic em", you'd better look for something to bite. Sam Shelley, Rancher Muleshoe Texas 1892-1985 RIP

As far as feeder lights just go down to Home depot buy the solar spot light kit, then go to office max and buy some colored plastic, light red, green, yellow. cut out discs to fit in side the lense, thats it no brainer cost about 40$ per feeder !! good luck with your project.

I'm thinking about undertaking a project that would effectively turn a 2 million CP spoptlight into a radio controlled spotlight. I have a homemade coyote attacter (basically a motor, speed control, and RC equipment from my old Grasshopper car that spins a coonskin cap at relatively modest RPMs) that I can gut for parts. I'm just wondering if a one servo is enough to activate the light and if the other can turn a swivel to provide for a panning motion. I'll check into it.

I have a set of the solar lights from home depot. they cost $39.00. I didn't even put the red plastic on them. I set up, to go on every night. It took about a week for the deer and hogs to get used to them. No problem I also installed the lights on a 3" PVC pipe then put that down over a small T post so I can relocate it to different feeders without problems.
