Has anyone every duck hunted on Richland Chambers?
I called the local Game Warden that was listed on the TPWD site and he didn't seem too sure on the few questions I asked...
1. Is a permit required? He said that he "didn't think so."
2. Is there a certain distance that I am required to be in the boat from the shoreline/ houses? He said he wasn't sure about the shoreline part and that as long as I wasn't on someone's porch then I should be ok. Also mentioned that I should be ready for a chat w/ local law enforcement because someone was bound to call me in...
Any firm answers to my two questions is greatly appreciated!

I used to hunt Richland all the time. Real good hunting. I dont think you need a permit to hunt it, and we always hunted out of the boat brushed up on the shore.

1. No permit for lake hunting. AHP for the RC WMA.
2. 600 feet from a "dwelling" (inhabited structure). There are parts of the lake that the shoreline is privately owned. You cannot be on that property - there is no corps easement like at a lot of lakes.
Basically, you can setup anywhere IN THE WATER as long as you abide by the 600' rule. Be prepared for anything. Half the residents out there are retired city folk that have no clue and the other half hunt hogs in their backyards...

Gentlemen, thank you for all the quick replies!
Any places that are worth checking out on the lake for hunting?
We've had a house in The Shores development for about 2 years now but have only explored the lake for fishing locations... Never really looked for any hunting spots

Also the lake is not ran by the Corps. It is owned and ran by the Trinity River Authority. And only water surface hunting only unless you get some access to land.

I don't think your going to get much of a response for specific hunting spots but since you have a place up there the best thing would be to drive around and do some scouting and see what you come up with. Think about all the places you fished and thought were "ducky" and go back and see if there is anything there. JMO

After the split you should check out Richland Creek. It is type 2 land. It is all flooded land specifically for duck hunting. Only bad thing is that it is walk in only and everyone and there mom will be out there hunting it. Just throwing out another option.

someone needs to sit at the gate with a questionnaire and figure out how many people showed up due to this post. Not accusing you, just letting you know since your new that nobody will tell you where to hunt (rightfully so) and you will also catch a hefty amount of butt chewing if you name lakes. Richland creek requires a APH, they send you a book when you buy it that will let ya know all the rules. Im surprised anybody replied

This is not what hunting is all about and some of you guys should be ashamed of yourselves. This confuses me. Is hunting driving up to a high fence lodge and being chauffeured out to a blind with a guide who picks out a tagged animal for you to shoot? No, that's shooting. Hunting involves doing research (usually in person) and doing all the things associated with a successful hunt. Asking for someone's spot (Which happened in this thread) is not hunting. Any places that are worth checking out on the lake for hunting?

Wah wah wah.. Y'all act as if a crime has been committed. My intentions in asking if one arm of the lake was any better was innocent.
I have a limited amount of time that I can devote to heading to my lake house due to work. I would rather have a decent idea of which way to look instead of killing one of the maybe two days a month that I have allotted for the area.
One harmless post on this site isn't going to hurt anything.

Nope, not whining out of me. Just simply stating my position.
You're the one getting bent out of shape bc someone dared to ask a question.
I'm done arguing w/ your one sided mind.

Welcome to the THF, you may find that we are not a bunch of full-time duck commanding wannabes here. I would venture to say that probably 85% of the guys who post in the migratory forum are employed or are in school full-time, but yet still find time to scout. Another 14% are likely retired from what I understand. If employment keeps you from hunting that area often, find something closer that you can make worth your while if you're not willing to scout. Otherwise, go in blind, you might just get lucky, plus you'll learn if that spot was worth it to hunt! No one has chastised you, people have actually been very polite.

What's funny, if you all didn't post back, the thread would go away. But since you gripe by responding, you keep the thread at the top. So blame yourself as much as the original poster. Honestly, who is too stupid to know that a big body of water probably has ducks on it somewhere. Naming the lake is not hurting the lake. The idiots will already be there. Asking for spots is stupid, but even responding is more stupid.
My 2 cents, carry on.

I love these posts. I don't have time to scout and be away from my family, job etc I have more important things to do. So please someone who has taken the time away from their family, spent their gas to drive down there, or spent their time learning the lake to hunt give me some info...........you can't blame people for the screw you mentality.
it is like you putting in 10 years at your job and working hard to get a promotion to supervisor and then I say "hey what do I have to do to get that supervisor position opening up"
I have never hunted RC and don't intend to and everyone can get all bent up, pretty simple though going to be very hard to get info out of guys who have put in the time.
P.S. - this post was already at the top so I can do this

Now since that is out of the way ask me where my spots are located. If you don't like the answer then don't ask the question.
