I drew a permit in Utah several years ago. We hunted 2 hours south of Salt Lake City near Ogden. I missed a pretty good, but the 3 of us came home empty handed. There was an orange army all over the mountains.
If you shoot a young deer because a neighbor will shoot it, you are that neighbor.

Hudspeth County on the Sierra Blanca Ranch. I hunted there a few years ago. Will be my second year. When george tells his guides he wants something big, bad and ugly on the ground he means it. And his wonderful ranch backs it up. Some hosses on that place. Speed goats (antelope) are pretty good too. I killed a 73 2/8 net B+C this year.

When I first replied to this post it seemed forever before I left. Well those 4 weeks went by with a blink of an eye. All I have to do is make it thru the day and wake up at O-Dark-Early for Unit 37. Anyone else leaving tomorrow or Friday?

I just got back from Nevada. Weather started out great with cool temps and snow. The rut was just kicking off...until...we started getting blue bird days, full moon and warmer temps. Saw a decent buck on the 3rd day and passed. Was looking for something bigger since it took 10 years to get a tag. All I got was.... This was the biggest buck I saw which I passed on at 70 yards We spend 6 long days and a tank full of gas everyday looking for Mr. Big. I saw beat towards the end of the hunt. Eyes were tired of glassing Sage and Bitter Brush all day long. Had a great time though

I think last year was the first year they opened it up for mule deer hunting, and boy were some giants killed. Lots of open spaces, with smidgets of cover, Best of luck.Oh by the way, Gains placed at least 3 bucks over 200 inches, this one 230 http://www.dailysentinel.com/sports/cont...anny_young.html

Hudspeth County on the Sierra Blanca Ranch. One of my uncles has a ranch that is across the interstate from the Sierra Blanca SW of of town on Devils Ridge. Use to hunt there a lot when I was younger. Good mulies and lots of coyotes.
