I saw some young (spike) roadkill this week. On sat, I saw 8 bucks in the wheat acting like they were best friends. Mostly forks, but a few 6 points and a nice 8. There were some does with them also but no rutting behavior was evident. When they ended up leaving the wheat, they all left together.

Found my first scrape today. Saw a cow horn spike pee on himself and nibble on a branch. He didn't know how to properly make a scrape. Nothing going on in southern Young county yet.

In Hardeman this past weekend checking cameras and feeders. Did a little scouting Sat morning and evening and seeing the same thing. All bachelor groups. No chasing. Saw one scrape where they usually tear it up during the rut. It's 2-3 weeks off like normal.

That's interesting because I bow hunted this weekend just south of Snyder and it was wide open full chasing both Saturday and Sunday. I rattled in 4 bucks Saturday morning and every doe I saw had 1 or more bucks chasing her. I also saw 2 buck/doe pairs that appeared to be "locked down." With the full moon this week, I think most of it will be over with by next weekend.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

I hunted in Dickens and Crosby this weekend and we had bucks still in bachelor groups. They are running the does at night, but with bucks together I think rut will be in 3 weeks like it always is.

The big boys are showing up on the camera in the middle of the day now. It is almost 3 weeks earlier than the past 3-4 years.

West Texas, saw some young six's and eights chasing a few doe's. The older bucks still keeping behind the scene, the full moon didn't help though. Did have a couple of pics of the older bucks later in the day, but that was before the full moon. Couple more weeks IMO.

We have seen some bigger bucks around lately, but not the big mature ones. Don't usually see those at the feeder anyway.

young deer are chasing but I still think that we are a couple of weeks out on a rut. This warm weather is going to slow it down a little.

No rut in Childress yet. Bucks are still running together. I do have a scrape right next to my feeder, but it's a small buck, because it's a little wimpy mesquite tree.
Next weekend should be good, or at least it has been the past 3 years.
Picture removed. clowns creep me out.
