At the range I have noticed several different shooting styles was just wondering what your prefered style and why.

Ive never heard of anyone holding the barrel from the top side. Whered you get that option? Am I missing something?

probably a hand across it holding it down..seen ppl do that, or rest their hand on top of the scope.

First, I set the gun down on the window or tree branch, fence post. Then, I make sure to get BOTH ELBOWS on something solid. If you look all chicken winged, you are doing something wrong. I put my left hand on the topside of the barrel.

When sighting in, I always shoot the same. Once sighted in, I usually shoot supported and non supported.
You never know when in the field.

I think you should practice and be proficient in all positions, especially for shooting.

Obviously there's different positions but I get the hint that you're talking about the most ideal one.

I rest the front stock on whatever, use my left hand to support the butt stock from underneath. Usually just sit the butt on top of my fist. The rest is the same for a right handed shooter.

I meant to have hand on scope as an option but messed up and couldn't edit my choices. and yes, I have seen some place hand on top of barrel.

Never rest the barrel on a support. Use the forend for support.
