His son was in my 9th grade Geometry class.

Walt Garrison ... the Double Cowboy.

Pass the gravy.

Back in the early 90's, the SHOT show was in Dallas and I was there. I walked by a booth that had this cowboy sitting there and he was whittling small wooden roses and handing them to people as they walked by. Someone close by said, "That's Walt Garrison." I walked up and he started to hand me a wooden rose and I said, "No, sir. I don't want the rose. I would just like to see your super bowl ring." He had it on and showed it to me. I remember it was gorgeous. Super nice guy and I'm glad I got to meet him.

He never stepped out of bounds to avoid getting hit. The goal line was a Goal. You strived for it. Real football.

RIP Walt.

Read a story about him.

He wasn’t drafted by the Cowboys but came in a trade. He asked Landry why they didn’t draft him out of college.
Landry replied “ Well Walt; we didn’t think you were any good.”.

Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.

Boy, if I say "sic em", you'd better look for something to bite. Sam Shelley, Rancher Muleshoe Texas 1892-1985 RIP

Not trying to. I looked up to the man and believe that him being supportive of those around him helped me become a better adult. I do the same thing for other young men that I come accross and have introduced many of my clients sons to hunting and fishing over the years because of the example set by Walt. His good deeds will riverbeat for generations. Like I said previously, he was a very, very, very nice man. I am sorry that he passed.

When and where did he take you? It may be land that a family member of mine currently owns.

Lake Lewisville. There was a boat ramp at the bottom of north clearwater that he liked to launch from because there was never anyone there.

Of course it will always be a place that can't be substantiated or verified. Same play, same playbook.

How would anyone prove that they went fishing nearly 35 to 40 years? It's not like everyone was carrying a high resolution camera in their pocket back then. That's like demanding evidence from you that you ate breakfast one morning forty years ago. I only got to run across the man because my friend's dad was an army buddy or college buddy or something like that to the man.

Whatever. All you had to do was RIP the man and leave it at that. But you couldn't do that. You had to poop on the guys thread by mentioning that you just happen to have gone fishing with him (another fantastical story of yours) and then insinuate that Walt was a drunk. None of that was necessary. We all know you walked the moon before you were 5 and have sat with great Presidents. There's a time and a place for everything. Just not here.

So, this was 1985/1986?

The more stories he tells, the more those dates narrow. Can't be in two places at once. banana2

Around that time would be a good guess on my part. I got a job at Pillsbury Boats sometime after and my friend was able to drive us to work. He was about a year older then I am I think.

What I am talking about wasn't a daily occurrence. It happened every now and again. We weren't in Highland Village full time yet and still went back and forth to SA so my mom could finish her degree. My friend may have gone with him at times when I wasn't around.

If you all want to pick apart my life story start another thread instead of taking a [censored] on the floor in a thread that is supposed to be in honor of a good man passing.

Are you trying to turn this around now? Wow. Go back and read what YOU wrote. You wanted to make this about YOU. The man that knows everyone important and has done it all; who just so happen to slide in another story about himself. Imagine that...

I'm done with you.

I'm perfectly fine with you all picking apart my life story. Just do it in another thread. Doing it here feels slimy to me. After my first post in this thread everything else that I've posted was done in direct response to a question or statement directed towards me and it has turned in a direction that I don't think is appropriate in this thread.

You just don't see it do you? Even when it's staring you right in the face. I'd say I feel sorry for you, but I don't.

Like I said, please voice all of that in another thread. I am thick skined and you can bag on me all that you want.
