One of the real Cowboys on America's team has passed. He was a good one.

Oh wow......what a shame. He was one of the greats on those early Cowboy Superbowl teams. Loved watching him play.

He used to take my buddy and I fishing with him in our early teens. He would down a case of beer before noon so I am surprised he lasted as long as he did. He was a very, very, very nice man.

If the Cowboys needed a yard, he would give you five, while carrying defenders with him!.... RIP to a REAL Cowboy!

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

Players like Garrison are why we grew up loving the Cowboys.
Too bad it had to change.

back in ~1978, he did a Skoal commercial outside of Leander in a new upscale subdivision (Ridgemar Landing) at the time. I was doing architectural design work for the developer/owner of the subdivision when Walt and crew showed up to do the shoot down on the creek. Seemed like a really nice guy and we visited a bit. He got a kick out of me ribbing him about dipping Skoal since I was a Copenhagen guy. I offered him some Cope and he gave it a try, but said he would stick to his sissy man Skoal ... LOL

Yes it was, I believe it was a one horse too and he thought he really pulled one over on them. Last I heard him talk about it he said he still had it.

Gridiron heroes of yesteryear when times were more innocent, pure not so commercialized, folks playing for more the love of the game and not millions of $$$$$ are starting to pass on: Jim Brown, Butkus, Garrison, no doubt others will follow. Godspeed Cowboy Garrison!!!

Meredith said that Garrison was one of the most consistent running backs he'd ever seen.
"If it was third and two, Walt would get you that two yards. If it was third and four, Walt would get you that two yards."
