Yeah, I wouldn't waste money on a gimmick like that, either. I just couldn't believe that it actually existed.

My thought is to go another direction, and use the pheromone that attracts the birds during,"mating season."
I don't think it's too far fetched. I mean after all, on some occasions, haven't you been able to tell what you had for dinner the night before when you cut big nasty fart in your waders. You know, the only place for it to go is up in your mouth and nose!!! It's kind of the same concept. I'm not condoning smelling your own methane but, I do believe the ole smeller is a sense that needs to be explored more for bringing in more birds.

I tell you what. Let me bust one of those big nasty farts in my waders and if you can tell me what I had for dinner the night before I will buy a bottle of the goose juice.

On another note, why would this work during duck season (fall and winter) when ducks go into "estrus" during the spring. Would the males not think this a little strange, or just react like humans and take it when it is availiable?

as obsered as this is, because ducks can't smell, the timing would not be off. Ducks form pair bonds in late the fall, winter. So, if ducks could smell, and hens gave off an estrus scent to attract a mate, it would occur around the same time the drakes get their plumage.

And for the record, this same idea was posted last year and I stated that buzzards are the only birds that use scent for anything, and some joker argued with me, saying I dont know what I'm talking about. The funny thing is, I do know what I'm talking about.
