Just wondering what everyone carries in their truck, ATV, UTV or whatever when you are just riding around your lease, ranch or property checking things out. You never know what you may run into, hog, snake, etc. What do you all carry and why?
I am just looking for something that is fairly simple, not so beautiful that you don't mind it getting banged around a little and that is an effective caliber for most varmints, hogs, etc that you might encounter.

My truck gun is a custom .222 bolt gun with a 20" Xheavy barrel. I also have either a .40 or .45 cal handgun on my hip, which is what I use to shoot snakes.

Typically a suppressed AR-15 in 6.8 SPC. Sometimes I have the 5.56 upper on it, just depends on my mood. 9mm M&P fullsize is nearby, as is my Shield 9mm.

Get you a Tikka T-3 in 7mm-08. Not terribly expensive, not heavy, tough, guaranteed to shoot. If I were forced to live with one, and only one short action cartridge, and use a mass produced rifle, that is what I would get, no question about it.

Ruger American Predator in 243 with 90gr Speer Deep Curls. Redfield 2x7. Don't worry about scratching it up, big enough for anything we might run across, and deadly accurate.

Scoped AR in 5.56 with a mag of 64gr Speer gold dots. Don't care if it gets a little beat up, plenty of accuracy and juice to whack coyotes and whatnot. Collapsible stock and short barrel means it rides nice between the seat and console.
Shoot. Eat. Repeat.

When I'm riding around filling feeders, checking cameras, and stands I always have my AR 300 Blackout SBR with suppressor and a Leupold VX-R 2-7x.

My "console gun" is usually my AR because I can collapse the stock and with the 16" barrel makes it easy to lay there on top. A 9" suppressor makes my bolt guns too long to easily get out the window in a hurry.

I usually have a Mossberg MVP Patrol Rifle .223/5.56 with me in the truck or Mule. 16" barrel, 3x9 scope with a 10 rd AR mag stuffed full of 70 gr SP's loaded pretty stout. Short overall length makes it easy to maneuver around and get it pointed downrange. Handguns, normally one of my 9mm's but occasionally the M&P 40S&W or a 1911.

TC Encore with heavy hammer spring. One of the safer rifles to carry. Carry breach open or closed. I like breach open it’s very simple, safe and no time consuming to close

Usually it is the Marlin 1894 trapper stainless 357. Little 16 inch barrel leveraction is handy

Just bought my 7 year old a compact ruger american ranch 5.56. This will be my truck gun as soon as he graduates to a full size. 16" medium contour barrel and i believe LOP is like 12.5" - slides down nice and easy next to the seat.

Dpms LR 243 . Is what I carry in my feed truck everyday. That rifle has killed a lot of animals loaded with 85 grain Sierra Gamekings.

All I carry is an 870 with a slug then alternate between OO buck and slugs. Been thinking about a .17 to take along

Some sort of suppress SBR with a low power scope. Either 10/22 , 300BO AR or 6.8 AR.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Savage model 16 bolt gun in 223 with a 3-10 power scope. Stainless synthetic and butt ugly, so I'm not worried about bumps or bruises and resists rusting. It's very accurate which makes it fun to shoot. Inexpensive to load for as well. Usually loaded up with 55gr Hornady sp.

open sight - lever action Marlin 30-30 What he said. My Marlin 336W is the most economical deer and hog gun I own.
