Do you guys think a 223 is OK for whitetail at closer distances, say 150 yards and less? I hunt in Central Texas where shots are usually between 60 and 150 yards, and the deer are not large. I really like the 223, but have mixed feelings on the ethics for me to shoot such a small caliber for deer. Again, my dilemma over the ethics of it is for me. I'm not casting aspersions on others. Thanks!

I would think a .223 is big enough for central Texas. It's all about shot placement anyways.

If you are questioning the ethics you have answered for your situation. For the price of a new upper a rifle in a cartridge that is unquestionably suitable can be had.

Mark Yep, that's about as much confirmation as I needed! Makes a great coyote round though.
