It does come down to the individual ranch and their management. The larger the acreage the better the odds of producing those high scoring bucks improves. That large acreage needs be in any county with great habitat and habitat management. I had forgotten about one ranch in Maverick County also that will produce really huge deer every year. Management has improved in South Texas also and even more ranches are producing book deer today than 10 yrs ago. There are probably more poached south of IH-10 that make the book than one realizes. Yelp I agree North Tx can do more with less acreage maybe. maybe not. that is going to be hard to argue one way or the other.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I'd exclude the YO bc nutrition isn't there unless they like licking rocks, little precipitation and hot, dry stressful antler growth periods.

I'm actually not looking to "get into" anything. I'm just pointing out some great hunting in Texas. You guys can measure your wieners on your own time.

Some very good hunting everywhere in Texas and I prefer the panhandle area of Texas if given a chance. That's why I like debates with ranchman, he'll argue both sides of the fence. Ha STX definitely can't be denied simply for the vast majority of book deer killed there compared to the rest of the state. Are there deer in north tx and the panhandle that aren't enter, sure......but that happens all over the state, not just in north tx. I'm parshall to the N central myself, say fisher/stonewall line.
