Nail on the head. Like I said, I prefer my 270, but only because I like shooting it. Its a lot of gun for hogs, but they don't run either. The 9 I shot with a 22 didn't run much, (10/15 feet). Had to shoot 2 of them twice though. Not so they wouldn't run, but they needed out of their misery.

Weak little ole pissant of a gun, what did you expect man!?!?! Hogs are invincible tank like creatures from another dimension, our weapons are useless against them!

*Raises hand* Yes, sir, it IS fun! Granted, we're on two different .50 cal pages. I was deer hunting during muzzleloader season quite a few years back. Didn't see SQUAT, but had a hog come out under the feeder. Put a nice 50 cal ball into him and dropped him on the spot.

Outside of that, I use a .308 or a 12ga with buck. .357 mag or .45 ACP as my sidearm.

Dont rule out the old slug gun, works for bears.. most folks allready have a shot gun , thinken of going down to a 20 the 12 rocks. extended tube if you have too. so theres 5 plus. what you can pocket. shots are short. pratice @ 50 and hold tight.

I would say it's all about the placement. I've used my .243 to my 30-30 while my buddy sat next to me with his .223. He laid one down with a great shot behind the ear. Any caliber would work, it's just which one you prefer the most.
