Anybody have Shredding contacts for Sterling County? or San Angelo? I could also rent one out of San Angelo? What is an hourly or going rate for this?

Yep, Just want to be able to drive around the place and for visibility. I know it will come back , but we cant afford to sink alot of money in it because of the chance of losing it. I figure if I can get it knocked down every couple years we'll be good.

Not worried about the flats. Right now after our little forest fire it is thick. My main concern is visibility and being able to drive a jeep or 4 wheeler through a few places.

Will the bucket rip them up with ease? We have access to a bobcat , its just a long heavy haul.

Oh yeah. MUCH easier if you have a gubber to replace the bucket though. If I were in your shoes, it would be a great investment to buy one, better yet, If somebody on your lease can weld make one. Extremly easy

Getting back to the original question, what is about the going rate for having it shredded, if there is such a thing?
Thursday at 12:45 PM #33 Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

Not worried about the flats. Right now after our little forest fire it is thick. My main concern is visibility and being able to drive a jeep or 4 wheeler through a few places. I hunted a place between Cotulla and Laredo a few times where they shredded the edges of the senderos. I stopped in Cotulla and had goop put in all four tires. After I got home (3 days of hunting), I started counting broken off Mesquite thorns in one of my tires. I wasn't even halfway around and lost count at 120-something.
Practice doesn’t make perfect. Practice makes permanent.

we started trying to deal with cedars on our place. We first tried a 4wd tractor (100+ HP). That only worked for smaller ones. We then tried a dozer. It works great for pushing them, but leaves holes, which is fine except for places you don't want to start erosion problems. What we've found to be best is a solid tire Bobcat with a shear on the front. If you clip them below the first branches, you have that particular cedar killed.
Those roots are STRONG and if the soil is dry or rocky, they are impossible to push over without a tracked vehicle when they get to be pretty big.

http://www.sportsmansonestop.com/We use this guy. He has done a wide variety of things for us and mainly just clearing mesquite trees. He is located in Anson and I think the going rate is $75 an hour but I'm not positive.

When it's this hot spray them with straight diesel. Just be ready to load up on the slime when the thorns get hard. If they've been mowed before, there's probably 3 times as much roots under the ground as there are branches above. I've pulled up some sucker roots with my tractor that were 10 feet long and still green from stumps that were dead over a year.

I don't know how much you have to do, but for enough work I would come from Sheffield and do it for $75/hr plus move in and move out mileage. I have a grubber and a shear, also tracks on my skid steer.

I feel sorry for who ever has the place in 5-10 years. If just one time those mesquites get up too big to shred, someone will have a grand time trying to kill em' with the root systems they will have built.
From the outside looking in, you can't understand it. From the inside looking out, you can't explain it...

I'm not sure where your located but our company offers both of those services, and even if your not near us this might give you a reference as to pricing. Do not go with an hourly shredding company, an honest company will only charge accourding to the wieght. We come out to your house/ home office with one of our trucks, but we do require a $100 min order which comes out to 500 pounds of paper. The other option we offer is if you come to one of our reginal offices (please call ahead to see that a shredding specialist is available) and bring your paper you will be charges $7 per bankers size box or $.18 per pound. Check out our web site. http://www.ecshredding.com
