I was drawing up how to make a large feeder out of thin metal. I am wanting at least 1000# as my ranch is 7 hr drive. I was just wanting to throw corn to keep deer in the area (low fence)as we fed heavy this year only during the season and pulled in tons of deer, more nice bucks than ever including a nice 14 with split brows and let a bunch of young bucks walk. what recommendations do you have? I am concerned with moisture buildup on my feeder, but I have a few ideas. can i get away with angle iron legs or should i make them square tube... I have a wire feed welder Heres what i am thinking but on a 1000# scale not as tall, as i will put it a hog proof area, not worried about it getting tipped

Take a look at hb hunting products. They make a1000 lb feeder that is very stable and easier to fill than the one you have pictured.

We can build you a heavy duty 1100# feeder with four legs instead of three for $500.00. No moisture problems and heavy duty legs. Thanks, Andy "Feederguys" 972-935-1209

wow your feeders sound like a bargain. And by the looks of it you do quality welding. I really like your firepits.
If i had known, and you were a little closer I would have bought one instead of building it. But hey it beats a day at work. Is that 500 including a 12v system?
Right now I have mine built with materials running 150$ for a 1500# feeder. I splurged and bought a spintech 12v with solar for 150 so a grand total of 300 for a monster feeder to last a lifetime. Ill try to post pics when I am totally done.

Just check your battery-haha. I hunted last season sitting in a stand opening morning only to have the feeder malfunction and not go off, faulty battery. It worked 3 weeks previous when I set it up. That can be a crushing feeling.
