Hunted around Sierra Alto just east of El Paso past Hueco Tanks over Mule Deer season.
Fellow lease hunters saw a mountain lion up on one of the mountains.
Took several shots at him and hiked up to look for him.
Did not find anything though.
Several cats have been trapped on the ranch in the past 10 years and they have a full mounted one in the ranch bunk house.

Midland County, seen multiple times this year sitting in the larger mesquite trees next to the tank swatting doves that land in the tree.

Saw one this past Friday in LiveOak County on the road by our house. It has been seem many times in the same area by many people. Since the sighting we have not seen a deer at the feeders and im carrying a pistol to the stand with me.

I saw one on the Baird Lake rd in Callahan co. early 90's, it was in the middle of the road. Had to stop for it as it just walked to the fence and hopped it like a deer. It never ran just looked back at me and walked away!
A few years later I was driving behind a guy a was hunting with on the way to the ranch, he swerved off the road to miss one he said, but I did not see it for myself. But it was right at the south city limit sign of Lawn Tx in Taylor co.

We had them on the lease between fredericksburg and Junction. We had them Just North of Coleman in 2001.We had them in Sanderson, and we had them in Marathon. The one Cat just North of Coleman was a fact -yet we had no way to prove it.At that time we had a lease with JB Smith Ranch. We told him and he just lokked at us kinda funny..LOL we told the local game warden and he pretty much did the same.About 4 years later a guy killed one while hunting..Guess we were right after all.I think there are alot more around than any of us really know.

Callahan County - 2002. Ranchers wife saw it killing calves - i thought - yeah right. Then I saw it eating a gut pile from a buck we had shot earlier in the day.

I've never actually laid eyes on one, but I've seen tracks that were an easy 3-4" across in Fisher Co.
My BIL discounted these tracks as the neighbors' dogs, but we never see them on our property.

there is an almost surefire way to tell....

a dogs outside toes will be even with each other...

the mountain lion will be undoubtedly uneven.. like one further
forward than the other

I saw one last night. I thought I was crazy but something has been eating my chickens...one per night before I go shut them up at night and I decided to sit out there with a .22 and shoot what I assumed was a coyote and it ended up being what looked like a cougar to me. I came online to look around and see if anyone else had seen one in or near Waller recently because I was not aware they were this far east. Maybe I'm not crazy. I saw a long tail and it was a buff color like my dog. It walked right into the light of the flashlight I had pointed out into the yard not 30 feet from me. Maybe I'm crazy but I know what I saw.

I know a person that owns 1250 acres that is just off 377 south of the Colo. river on the San Saba / McCullogh conty line. One night a govt. trapper called and asked permission to continue tracking a big cat on to their property. About a year later my brother seen one in the ranch road while on a 4 wheeler. I shot a doe late one evening and trailed it across a creek for about 100 yards. It got to dark and I had no fashlight. Since it was cold I figured I would go back in the morning. I found it really quickly and it was in a muddy spot covered with leaves and twigs and there tracks bigger than my palm. This was the second wounded deer I had found covered on this ranch. They are out there.
